The June double regional at California is shaping up to be a simply
action packed, best in class event for the California Racing world
and for Cal Club.
Just a few of the DON'T MISS highlights.
6:30 PM in the drivers meeting room at California Speedway Mr. Roger
Caddell of Victory Lane Data (and father of Andrew Caddell of Spec
Miata and MX-5 Cup fame) will present a 3 hour session on Data
Acquisition. What you need, why you need it, and how to acquire and
use what you need will all be covered. This is a technical subject
but presented for drivers, and persons who may not have a technical
background. The course is FREE to Cal Club members and Associate
members. You need to register as soon as on line registration opens
for the June event. Our partner at Speed Ventures (and their 8,000
customers) is going to be invited as well and those that are not
club members will pay a fee of $40.00 each for the class. Given that
these classes often are in the hundreds of dollars, this is a great
deal for everyone, and again FREE for Cal Club Members. Our SOLO,
Rally and RallyX community are being invited too, and as Cal Club
members they too are FREE. The room holds about 100 people, and it
is first come first registered first come. Seating is going to be
limited so register as early as you can. Demand is anticipated to be
high.
Saturday, Cal Club has a full race day planned. Mazda, and Miata
Clubs are invited and they anticipate 100 plus cars. Corvette clubs
have been invited and they anticipate 50 or so cars. The Mazda and
Miata groups are planning a car show as well.
Regular regional racing should end about 3:30 and yes that is early.
After a short break and at approximately 4 PM the first Cal Club
enduro will see the GREEN FLAG. Cal Club racers who enter the double
regional can enter the 2 hour enduro for a total of $75.00 PER TEAM.
That means that if one team member runs the double regional and the
other just drives the enduro its $75.00. Tag Team - $75.00. 3
drivers, assuming at least one enters and runs the double regional -
$75.00 per team. Supp regs will be posted shortly but a driver
change is required or a tag team change (and new driver) in lieu of
changing drivers in one car.
Saturday night the Clubs has a social planned and all drivers and
workers are invited. As a special treat for all our racers we have
booked at great expense and all the way from the Los Angeles Coastal
areas - “The Friday Night Jam Band”. The band will amaze you with
their extensive collection of Blues music and their Grateful Dead
music. A not to be missed event for sure.
Sunday is a full regional with extra time in qualification races
planned. Also, the Club is hoping to be able to use the Grand
National course on Sunday, which is a little shorter and different
than we have run before. It all depends upon the number of entries
and a couple of tech issues being addressed and assuming they can be
addressed successfully the Club and its Racers and Workers will have
a and fun configuration which will NOT require the Wings and Things
groups to change their gearing.
The on line registration should be open soon, so watch for it and
get your entry into the regional and the enduro in as soon as
possible and don't forget to register for the Data Acquisition
Seminar. Fee for Cal Club members - $40.00 a seat for everyone else.
